I Opened the Tin and Found a Flea Comb

The tin surprised me. You get two of the collars, a flea comb to pull out anything already living on your dog, and the instruction manual, all packed into that one little container. The comb matters more than it sounds, you want to clear any existing fleas before the collar goes on, since the collar prevents, it doesn’t evict. You can see it on Amazon if you want the current size options.

Putting it on is nothing. You literally just take this piece right here, thread it right through, attach it on the other side, and if you have any extra length left, you just cut the end off. And that’s it. No buckle to fight with, no tool.

Mine Didn’t Fit My Dog

The one I had was the medium size and my dog is a little larger, so it didn’t fit him. That’s the -to-goodness friction here and it’s a sizing problem, not a product problem. These come in a variety of sizes and this listing is specifically the small dog version, so you have to measure your dog’s neck before you order instead of eyeballing it.

I’ll have to go back and order one for myself that’s the correct size. Make sure you get the collar size that fits so that way it works for your dog. Two fingers of room between the collar and the neck is the guide, then trim.

What Nine Months of Wear Is Really Buying

Two collars at up to 9 months each is 18 months of coverage from one tin. That’s the whole pitch, and it’s the reason the math works against monthly topicals you have to remember to apply and reorder.

A note on timing: this one is sitting well below where it’s usually been over the past three months, close to the lowest price it’s ever been tracked at. It’s also moving faster than usual, ranked #13,585 in Pet Supplies against a 90 day average of #18,574, with more than 500 bought in the past month. Pricing moves, so check today’s price on Amazon rather than taking my word for where it sits.

Ownership After the Trim

There’s almost nothing to maintain. Once it’s threaded and trimmed, it stays on for around the clock protection, and the only real task is remembering roughly when 9 months is up. Write the date somewhere.

The flea comb is the part people ignore. It’s there to pull out anything already on your dog, which a collar won’t do retroactively. Keep the tin, keep the comb in it.

It’s Not a Stiff Plastic Band

I expected something rigid and chemical-smelling. It’s not aggressive and it’s extremely soft. That’s the misconception worth clearing up, because a lot of people picture the old bulky plastic collars that sit stiff around a little neck and get skipped by the dog’s owner after a week.

This one is thin and light enough that a small dog or a puppy isn’t going to be dragging it around. It doesn’t look aggressive. On a small dog or puppy, it reads more like a ribbon than a treatment device, which is exactly why it actually stays on.

Plant-Based, Worn, Not Applied

It works by being worn, not by being applied to skin. The collar is made with plant-based ingredients and the listing states it’s suitable for use around people and pets when used as directed, which is the part that matters in a house with kids who hug the dog.

The adjustable design is the other half of the mechanics. Rather than sized buckle holes, you thread, position, and trim the excess, so the fit is continuous instead of jumping in increments. That’s better for a small neck, where one buckle hole either way is the difference between too tight and sliding off. The soft material sits gently and lets the dog move naturally, which is what keeps it on long enough to hit the 9 month window instead of getting pulled off in month two.

Small Dogs, Puppies, Forgetful Owners

This is a collar for dogs small enough that bulk matters, and for anyone who keeps missing the monthly treatment date. Two in the tin also means a second dog in the house is covered, or you’ve got a spare for when the first one runs out.

Bigger dog? Go find the larger size in the range, like I’m going to have to. If you want something veterinary-prescribed for an active infestation, this isn’t that. It’s everyday protection you set and forget. You can check the current price on Amazon and match the size first.

Pros

  • Thread, attach, trim. That’s it, no tools and no fighting a buckle
  • Extremely soft and not aggressive against the neck
  • Two collars per tin, up to 9 months each
  • Flea comb and instruction manual included in the same container
  • Plant-based, and light enough for puppies and small dogs

Cons

  • The medium I had didn’t fit my larger dog, so sizing is on you to get right before ordering
  • Trimming the excess is permanent, so you can’t pass it to a bigger dog later
  • A collar won’t remove fleas already on the dog, which is what the comb is for

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my dog wear this with their regular collar?

Yes, it’s thin and light enough to sit alongside a normal collar without crowding the neck. Keep the two-finger gap on both so nothing pinches. Leash tags and a flea collar on the same neck is fine on a small dog.

Does it still work if the dog gets wet?

The listing doesn’t claim water resistance, and the instruction manual in the tin is where you’ll find the actual guidance, read it before the first bath, not after. If your dog swims several times a week, factor that into your 9-month expectation.

How do I store the second collar?

Leave it sealed in the tin until you need it. The tin is the storage, which is part of why the packaging is more useful than usual here. Don’t trim the spare until it’s actually going on a dog.

Is it safe to use around a puppy?

It’s designed for small dogs and puppies specifically, with plant-based ingredients and a soft, lightweight build. Use it as directed and check with your vet if the puppy is very young or has sensitive skin.

Loses ground only on sizing, because the medium I had was too small for my dog and that’s a decision you make before it ships. Owners of large breeds should look elsewhere in the size range entirely. A clear neck-measurement chart on the tin and this sits higher.
