The Tozuoup Busy Board Montessori Toys is worth buying if you need a screen-free toy that keeps toddler hands busy in the car. It’s 6.9 x 6.1 x 1.1 inches and about 0.5 lbs, so it drops into a diaper bag, and it ships with batteries, a screwdriver and four sticker sets. Buy it.

Aiden Wouldn’t Hand It Back
Aiden absolutely loves it. That was the whole test, and it answered the question faster than any spec sheet would have. Aiden’s grip on it didn’t loosen for three straight car rides, which told me everything before any switch got tested.
Thirteen LED lights and ten switches spread across the board, each one triggering a different response. Buttons to press. Switches to flip on and off. A turning mechanism that moves the analog dial up top. There’s even a little cord that plugs right in, which is the one he kept coming back to.
And it comes with everything you need. The 2 AA batteries are in the box. It even comes with a screwdriver, which matters more than it sounds like, because battery doors on toddler toys always need one and it’s never where you left it.
The Master Switch Is a Setup Trap
There’s an on/off switch over on the side, and if that’s off, none of the functions work. Nothing. No lights, no response from any of the 10 switches.
Easy to miss on first open. If you hand it over out of the box and your kid gets a dead board for 30 seconds, that’s a lost first impression. Flip the master switch first. Also worth knowing a toddler can find that switch and shut the whole thing down themselves mid-play.
Where a busy board stops working
This is a lap-sized toy, not a floor activity center. At 6.9 x 6.1 x 1.1 inches it’s built for little hands to hold, so a bigger kid who wants multi-step puzzles will burn through it quickly.
It’s also battery dependent. Every function routes through the electronics, so when the AAs die the board goes quiet until you find the screwdriver again. A wooden latch-and-buckle board doesn’t have that problem. This one trades that for lights and real switch feel.
Most busy boards skip the switches
This one teaches light switches and plugs instead of zippers, household controls your toddler actually sees every day. Useful, but they teach clothing fasteners. This one teaches household controls.
A fabric busy board teaches zippers and buckles, things a toddler wears. This one teaches the light switch by the door, the dial on the stove, the cord on a lamp. That’s the real separation, and it’s why I’d put this next to a fabric board rather than instead of one.
The Stickers Aren’t Decoration
The four sticker sets transform the blank back into a personalization surface, animals, vehicles, fruits, and appliances kids can choose and apply themselves. They’re the back of the board.
Hand a two-year-old a sticker sheet and a blank surface and you’ve bought yourself another ten minutes, the four themed sets (animals, vehicles, fruits, appliances) turn the back of the board into a second activity before the trip even starts.
It Lives in the Diaper Bag Now
At 0.5 lbs it slides into a diaper bag without adding weight, solving the restaurant and long-drive problem where a home-only toy can’t. It’s really lightweight so it can go with you anywhere.
The size is the point: at 6.9 x 6.1 inches and half a pound, it disappears into a diaper bag side pocket and lands on a restaurant table without clearing the water glasses, exactly where most toddler toys can’t go.
As an OT I spend a lot of time on fine motor and hand-eye work, and the mix here is good: pinch to flip a switch, forearm rotation to turn the dial, aim and insert for the cord. Three different motor patterns in one object. The lights on here are actually LED so they are nice and bright, but they’re a soft LED so it’s not too bright for their eyes or anything, which matters in a dark car.

Buy It Before You Pack the Bag
Open it and set it up at home first, don’t save it for the airport. Flip the master switch on, check the AAs seated right, and let your kid pick a sticker theme before the trip. That sticker session is half the fun and you don’t want to run it in a boarding line.
One version, one size, so there’s no choice to agonize over. It’s tracking well below where the busy board has usually sat over the last three months and close to its lowest tracked point, so this is a reasonable moment to look.
Pros
- Comes with everything you need, including 2 AA batteries and a screwdriver
- Soft LED lights that are bright without being harsh on toddler eyes
- Three distinct motor skills: switches, a turning dial, and a plug-in cord
- About 0.5 lbs, fits the diaper bag and the car
- Four sticker sets let kids personalize the back
Cons
- If the master on/off switch is off, none of the functions work at all
- Battery dependent, so everything stops when the AAs die
- Small footprint at 6.9 x 6.1 in, so older preschoolers may outgrow it
Frequently Asked Questions
Will TSA let this through in a carry-on?
Yes, it’s a battery toy running on 2 AA cells, which goes in carry-on without issue. Keep it in the bag’s outer pocket so you can grab it at the gate rather than digging during boarding.
Does it work for kids with autism or sensory needs?
The listing names kids with autism as an intended audience, and the soft LEDs plus tactile switches fit a sensory-seeking profile well. If your child is sound-sensitive, test the switch clicks in a quiet room first before counting on it as a calming tool.
How do I clean it?
Wipe only, never submerge it, since the electronics and battery compartment are inside. A damp cloth around the switches and dial handles most of what a toddler leaves behind.
Can the stickers be moved once they’re on?
Plan on them being permanent once pressed down. There are four themed sets, so let your kid choose one before applying and save the rest for notebooks or a lunchbox.
