The AKIRES Convection Space Heater is worth buying if you want warmth in a bedroom without fan noise. It’s fanless, runs 750W or 1500W, holds anywhere from 50 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and has a two-button child lock. Buy it if quiet and safety matter more than instant blast heat.

Quick Verdict
Our bedroom is the cold room in the house, and this thing warmed it without a single fan sound. Three ways to control it, a wheeled anti-tip base, and a two-button lock mode that kids can’t beat. Not a complicated device, but it gives you a lot of features.
Buy if you:
- sleep in the coldest room and can’t stand fan hum at 2am
- have kids who press every button they can reach
- want to turn the heat on from bed with your phone
- need to roll it between a bedroom and a garage or workshop
Skip if you:
- want to plug it in across the room, the cord is only about three and a half to four and a half feet
- expect a blast of hot air on your feet, fanless means the heat spreads, it doesn’t blow
- need to heat more than 500 square feet with one unit

Our Bedroom Is the Cold Room
Our bedroom runs cold enough that I’d wake up at 2am and reach for an extra blanket even with the house heat on. The AKIRES convection space heater (see it on Amazon) is rated for up to 500 square feet, enough to cover the whole room, not just the corner near the outlet. AKIRES sent me this unit to test.
What sold me first wasn’t the heat. It was that I can lie in bed and turn it on from my phone. Or grab the remote. Or get up and use the touch panel right here. Three ways in, which matters when the remote disappears under the covers.
Anti-Tip Isn’t Marketing Here, It’s the Base
The wheeled base is wide enough that this thing won’t tip. You literally just put the base on, snap in the casters, and that’s it. Super simple to put together. Because of the wheeled base down here, it spreads out far enough to be anti-tip, which is a great safety feature on a unit this tall.
There’s a plastic handle right on the back too. Any heater gets hot, so having a handle that doesn’t means you can pick it up and move it around without being at risk of damage. The all-metal body and tip-over shutoff back that up if it ever does go over.
What Ownership Costs After You Unbox It
Two AAA batteries for the remote. That’s it for consumables. No filters, no fan blades to pull lint out of, nothing to clean monthly, because there’s no fan moving dust through it in the first place.
The running cost is the real cost, and that’s where the two power modes earn their keep. Run it at 750W when the room is already close, kick it to 1500W when you’re starting cold. Set eco mode and the 24-hour timer and you can run this all day and have it just turn off automatically instead of forgetting it.
Three Modes, Two Wattages, One Button Combo
The control panel runs on color. Red means boost mode, yellow means comfort mode, green means eco mode. Scroll up or scroll down to change the temperature on any of them, anywhere from 50 degrees Fahrenheit up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, one degree at a time. Boost is set at 95 out of the box, but you can change it to whatever you want.
The wattage switch isn’t labeled in an obvious way, and that’s the one thing I had to figure out. You press down and mode at the same time. Do that and it jumps to power level 2, which is the 1500 watt mode, and you’ll see it show up down here with the two orange lines. Press them again to come back down to 750. Nothing on the panel tells you that combination, so if you never watched a demo you’d probably assume there’s only one output.
The lock is the same style of combo. Press two buttons at the same time and the lock icon comes on. Now it won’t turn off unless I hold those two buttons again. You can also lock it while it’s off, so it can’t be switched on at all. Once again, my favorite feature is that lock mode. If you have children or anything like that, it’s nice to know this can’t be played with until you do the special combination to unlock it.
Inside, it’s fanless, no spinning parts, no hum, nothing. I ran it all night with a light sleeper in the room and it never once woke either of us up, which is the only test that matters for a bedroom heater. Check today’s price on Amazon if silent overnight heat is what you’re actually shopping for.
Fanless Doesn’t Mean Weak. It Means Patient.
People hear fanless and assume underpowered. Wrong assumption. The heat spreads out across the room instead of getting pushed at you in a stream, so you won’t feel a hot blast standing in front of it the way you would with a convection space heater with a fan. The room warms, not your shins.
The flip side is the thing I’d actually tell a buyer: if you want instant targeted heat on one chair, this isn’t the design for that. If you want a whole bedroom warm and silent overnight, it is.
What the Money Buys Against a Basic Tower
A cheap tower heater gets you a fan, one dial, and noise. Here you’re paying for the silent element, WiFi app control, the remote, a 24-hour timer, a two-button child lock, wall-mount screws, and a wheeled caster base, every one of which I’ve used at least once in the first two weeks. The only feature I’d add is a longer cord.
Worth knowing on timing: it’s sitting a little below where it’s been for the past three months and close to the lowest I’ve seen it tracked. Sales rank has also moved up sharply lately, from a 90-day average around #1,310,594 in Home & Kitchen to #522,166, which usually means more people are finding it. The live number is on the Amazon product page.
Bedrooms, Garages, and the Cord Limit
This is for the person with one cold room and a light sleeper in it. You can mount it with the screws it comes with, so the garage, the bathroom, or anywhere you just need a little bit of extra heat works too, or just keep it on the wheels and roll it between rooms.
Who shouldn’t buy it: anyone trying to heat an open floor plan bigger than 500 square feet, and anyone whose only outlet is across the room. The cord is at least three and a half, four and a half feet, which is fine against a wall and frustrating anywhere else.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the app require an account to control it?
You’ll need to set up the WiFi app to use phone control, but the heater runs fully without it. The touch panel and remote work out of the box, so the app is an add-on, not a requirement.
Can I use it on an extension cord or power strip?
Plug it straight into a wall outlet. At 1500 watts this pulls real current, and power strips are where heaters cause problems. Plan the placement around an outlet instead of around a strip.
What happens if the power goes out while it’s running?
It stops, same as any electric heater. When power returns you’ll want to check your settings, since the timer and mode you had set aren’t guaranteed to resume. It’s a two-second fix on the panel.
Can I wall-mount it and still use the casters later?
Yes. The screws for wall mounting and the caster base are both included, and the base clips on separately. Mount it in the garage this winter, pull it down and roll it into the bedroom next year.
Will it dry out the room like other heaters?
Less so, because there’s no fan blowing air across a hot element, and there’s a built-in water tank to keep the air moist. If dry sinuses are why you stopped using your old heater, that’s the design difference worth paying attention to.
